Our Granular Alkalinity Booster raises the total alkalinity to the safe zone and makes your pH and chlorine levels easier to control. The pH of your pool is an important measure as it determines the alkalinity or acidity of your pool. Balancing the correct pH levels in your pool water is important for safe and clean and enjoyable swimming. Ideally, you will always want alkalinity to range between 80 and 120ppm. When total alkalinity drops below 80 ppm, equipment corrosion, plaster etching and eye irritation can occur. The alkalinity level of your water should be tested weekly and alkalinity should be the FIRST thing to be balanced. Remember your Alkalinity directly affects your pH Level! So remember to keep it within the ideal range of 80-100 pm for Pools and 120-150 ppm for Spas/Hot Tubs.

imageHow do I use Total Alkalinity Booster in my pool or spa? 1 Answer

    • Test your water first to determine current total alkalinity levels. Mix the booster with water in a bucket (never add water to chemical). Add the mixed solution evenly to your pool or spa while the circulation system is running. Add in small increments (about ¼ dose at a time) every 6 hours until desired alkalinity is reached — this helps prevent large pH swings known as “pH bounce."

imageWhy is total alkalinity important for pools and spas? 1 Answer

    • Total alkalinity acts like a buffer for your water’s pH — helping resist sudden swings that can make sanitizer levels ineffective or irritating. Proper alkalinity: Helps stabilize pH to keep it within the ideal range Prevents corrosion of metal parts, heaters, and pumps Reduces eye and skin irritation for swimmers and spa users Supports sanitizer performance so chlorine/bromine works more efficiently Protects pool finishes from etching and wear caused by aggressive water Keeping total alkalinity in the correct range creates a stable and comfortable water environment.

imageWhat is Total Alkalinity Booster Water Balancer and why should I use it? 1 Answer

    • Aqua Coastal Total Alkalinity Booster Water Balancer is a granular alkalinity increaser designed to raise the total alkalinity in your pool or spa water. Proper total alkalinity helps stabilize your water chemistry, especially pH levels, making it easier to maintain safe, clear water and preventing problems like corrosion or surface damage. When total alkalinity is too low, water can become corrosive and cause irritation or damage to pool/spa equipment and surfaces.
