The Hayward 21" side-mount sand filter is suitable for small to medium in-ground pools, typically up to 24,000 gallons (approximately 91,000 liters), depending on pump size and daily run time. Its efficient design provides consistent filtration while maintaining good water flow.
A side-mount design allows for easier access to the sand bed and internal components without removing the valve. This makes deep cleaning, sand replacement, and internal inspections more convenient, especially in tighter equipment pads or permanent plumbing setups.
The Hayward S210S is compatible with most standard in-ground pool pumps that use 1.5" plumbing connections and operate within the filter’s recommended flow range. It works well with vinyl, fiberglass, and concrete pools. Always ensure your pump’s flow rate does not exceed the filter’s maximum rating for optimal performance.
Routine care involves periodic backwashing when pressure rises 8-10 PSI above normal. The sand typically only needs replacement every 5-7 years, making this a low-maintenance, cost-effective filtration solution.
