Winter Covers

winter pool cover is necessary in a northern climate like Canada for a number of reasons. It not only keeps out debris such as bugs, branches and leaves, it also helps to reduce the amount of water and chemicals lost in your pool through evaporation. During the winter months, a pool cover also reduces the chances of algae problems as algae cannot grow without sunlight. Using a winter pool cover will help you save both time and money, particularly when it comes time for your spring cleanup.

Some Canadian inground pool owners opt to use a Safety Cover for their pools each winter. This mesh-style cover allows water to seep into the pool while keeping leaves and debris out. Save time. Save money. READ MORE

WINTER POOL COVERS IN CANADA

Surviving a harsh Canadian winter isn’t easy on a swimming pool. For that reason, Discount Pool Supply Canada aims to provide pool owners with high quality, winter pool covers that are intended to help protect your pool through the harsh winters we often have. Above-ground and in-ground winter pool covers are available in a number of different sizes and shapes to choose from, and as a pool owner you can appreciate the affordable price points for each.  These pool covers are made in Canada and made to withstand a harsh Canadian winter.

A winter pool cover is necessary in a northern climate like Canada for a number of reasons.

Solid Winter Pool Covers completely block UV rays and eliminate algae growth in your pool. Theses pool covers are heavier and provide great overall protection for your pool and are built to last a harsh Canadian winter. These pool Covers can be manufactured for any size of pool and in a variety of colours and patterns. Solid covers can be equipped with a drain port so water does not pool on the surface. Our fabrene winter pool covers are a great, affordable option when it comes to protecting your pool over the winter.

Leaf Net Pool Covers allow water to pass through their open weave, but prevent debris from getting into the water. Leaf nets are often removed after the leaves stop falling and before the first hard freeze. These thick, high-density polyethylene nets have a high weave count so they are durable plus they are protected by UC Protect lamination which protects it from the harmful effects of the sun. There are covers available for many shapes and sizes of pools, but when you measure for a leaf net make sure that it is at least three feet larger than your pool so that it can be properly secured to the edges of your pool.

Safety Pool Covers.  There are two basic types of solid safety pool covers; mesh and solid covers. Either works well, so choose which suits your needs. Mesh pool safety covers allow water to pass through into your pool. They are much stronger than leaf nets and ours are rated at 500 lb tensile strength. They are lighter and easier to manage in the spring than a solid winter pool safety cover, but they may not be the attractive option you are looking for. As well, mesh covers do not block out sunlight so if you live in a sunny area, a solid cover may be a better option to prevent algae growth.
